Caring for the park and protecting it’s future since 2006
Friends of the Field and Study Park (FOFS) was formed in 2006, by a group of concerned community members, and registered as a non profit company (NPC). The Aim: To Protect, Preserve and Promote this beautiful 30-acre open space in the heart of Sandton.
Since then, FOFS has worked, together with Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ), helping in the management and maintenance of the park. FOFS assists in keeping the grounds and facilities in top condition and sees that the playground equipment is kept in good working order.
Without warning to us, JCPZ removed their Security Guards from the Park on 31 December 2022 which is is a concern. The reason given was that there were not enough funds available in their budget but they were redeployed to other smaller Parks.
FOFS and the regular park visitors and public are extremely grateful to Fidelity ADT and 24/7 Security who generously have provided back- up patrols without any charge for their services. Their patrol vehicles are in and out of the Park during the day and night.
Another important element is that FOFS backs JCPZ with control on activities in the park to prevent possible misuse and noise. This is to maintain harmony in the park and prevent unnecessary disturbance to residents and businesses in the streets nearby.
The Field & Study Recreation Centre is a separate entity which falls under the City of Johannesburg Sports & Recreation Department.
Bring your family members and friends to enjoy Sandton’s loveliest place for rest and recreation.
DIRECTIONS
Owing to road closures in Parkmore on weekends and public holidays, here is the easiest route to the Field & Study Park. From William Nicol Drive, turn into Mattie Avenue, then turn left at 14th Street, go through the boom, turn right into Louise Avenue at the T-junction and you will see the park gates on the left.
