July 2025 has seen many newspaper articles regarding the threat to open spaces such as Marks Park, Bryanston Country Club and Killarney Country Club. In terms of threat to the Field and Study Park, FOFS continues to make the relevant authorities accountable to uphold national and provincial environmental laws. Any development in the park is highly likely to infringe on legislation because of its inevitable negative impact on the critical biodiversity of the park. The Field and Study Park is an urban gateway for many animals and insects – from butterflies to owls to legavaans and more. This little Slender Mongoose was seen in one of the big trees near the Braamfontein Spruit. If you would like to help make a difference and support our continued legal efforts in protecting the park vegetation and animals, please think of making a donation: https://fofs.co.za/donations_and_membership
