Due to the slow action of putting a tender out for the Café by Joburg Property Co. we are still missing that happy place . I have had at least 5 people keen to take it on and open it. it has been a bitter disappointment to so many and made a difference to the numbers who particularly used to  come in the mornings.  We hope for action from JPC. SOON!

With no life there or at the Rec. Centre which has been “renovated” and empty for 15 months we need both back.

We thank Peter and Des Nathaniel who for a year have sponsored their gardener to work in the Park once a week .  This has helped to keep the entrance looking tidy.  The year is now up and, funds permitting, we will keep him on.

We had the Jungle Gym completely overhauled at great cost and continue to maintain it, replacing planks and doing our best to keep it safe.

I am trying to get a smaller piece of play equipment from Parks for the toddler group.  Our wooden tyre swing has finally had to be closed off.  It was built by us years ago, constantly maintained but has seen better days. Parks do not provide wooden equipment. I would also like proper swings like the one in the Café grounds.

The Park has , during this time, had it’s dog walkers, picnics, parties on the warm winter days. A group of office workers came and had a fun day and childrens’  classes for Sensory Play and Child minders with the children weekly. The scouts have been

The huge Oak stumps remain. Just what Parks has in mind to do with them we will have to wait and see. They are terribly heavy.

The rabbits continue to invade the Rec. Centre and now the Park causing havoc in our fields with the holes that they dig.  They are even breeding our side as well braving the dogs. It is Spring and babies are popping out everywhere. There are those who love them for their Childrens’ pleasure and those who see the damage they are doing.   There is a plan to remove 200  but we will wait and see.

ON THE 17th SEPTEMBER WE HAVE SPRUIT DAY when you are all invited to come and join in and get involved doing something for your Park. River clean up, tree planting, etc. 100 trees! We have a Coffee cart coming and boerie rolls and water.

Thank you The Nathaniel Family for sponsoring Boerewors rolls and water for Spruit day Volunteers.

SEE YOU THERE!!  IT’S YOUR PARK.1
